Cornice & Plasterwork Restoration at 3 Hanover Square

Cornice Cleaning Ltd carried out specialist plasterwork restoration at 3 Hanover Square, London, as part of the former Citibank building’s conversion into an art gallery. The project brought together restoration, replacement work and bespoke casting to revive decorative features and support the building’s new use.

Restoring the Entrance and Ceiling

The entrance needed careful attention to bring its deteriorating plasterwork back into good condition. Working alongside other contractors, Jason and the team restored the entrance and completed ceiling work within a tight refurbishment schedule.

For a gallery welcoming visitors, the presentation of these spaces matters. Restoring decorative plasterwork helps give an entrance a considered finish while retaining the features that contribute to the building’s character.

Bespoke Casting for the Reception Desk

Our work also included casting sections of existing wall decoration for a reception desk centrepiece. This carried details from the building into a new feature within the gallery.

The project required accurate reproduction and coordination with the wider refurbishment team ahead of the opening. In his testimonial, client Toby Bertwistle praised the quality of the restoration, the accuracy of the casting and the team’s ability to work around other contractors.

Specialist Cornice Repair and Restoration

Decorative plasterwork needs an approach suited to its condition and design. Damaged cornices may have missing sections, broken details or old repairs that interrupt the original pattern. Restoring these features starts with understanding what can be retained and where replacement plasterwork is needed.

At Cornice Cleaning Ltd, we repair and restore period cornices and decorative coving across London. Where sections are missing, we take moulds from existing details and recreate matching pieces, helping the repaired areas blend with the surrounding plasterwork.

Our services include cornice cleaning, cornice repair, decorative plaster restoration and ceiling rose restoration. For cornices obscured by accumulated paint, we also offer specialist steam-based paint removal to reveal the underlying detail.

FINALLY HERE ARE A FEW WORDS FROM THE CLIENT

I have worked with Jason on a number of projects over the years and he has always risen to the occasion, non more so than our latest collaboration at Hanover Square, replacement and restoration of the old Citi Bank building to an art gallery, Jason and his team managed a tight schedule around other contractors to revive the former crumbling entrance to its former glory and in addition casting segments of existing walls for the reception desk centre piece with great accuracy and timing for the opening, the ceiling work was done so well it was difficult to find fault …. I can’t recommend him enough.
